Charitive

UI/UX App Design

Overview

Charitive was founded by a doctor who wanted to bridge the gap between those seeking to give charity, and those looking to receive it, by connecting these people around the globe.

The Challenge

A huge challenge with this project was making it stand out from competitors such as Gofundme. Also, how do we encourage users to donate or create a cause? To help with this, it was suggested that we add a gamification aspect to the app.

Goals

  • Design app UI
  • Allow users to create causes
  • Allow users to donate to causes
  • Measure data for causes
  • Implement gamification

Process Highlights

Site SCreens

One of the first steps in this project was constructing a sitemap, outlining all the screens and the functionality of each screen, as well as where each screen could possibly lead to.

Dashboard

With the dashboard design, I wanted to utilize horizontal spacing in addition to the normal vertical scroll to make best use of the real estate. To stand out from competitors, we decided to highlight the fact that the user is able to provide aid to those in other countries.

Cause Detail

As a screen with all types of information to display, I identified the key details and structured them in a way that made sense. Since the main objective of this screen is to get the user to donate, I styled and placed the donate button to be most prominent.

Donating

With the donation process, it was necessary to keep it simple and straightforward. I kept the amount of steps the user has to take to a minimum.

Gamification

I created a game system that allowed the user to unlock badges as they engaged with the app. These badges could be set to display on their profile image, further encouraging the user to want to unlock achievements.

The user is also served reward screens after certain actions, such as donating or completing a cause, to further add to the gamification aspect.

The Solution

To create a more unique product, I played off the brand colors to create a more approachable, friendly design. Users have clear actions to take, and can be encouraged to do so by the gaming system. Providing frequent rewards can be a tactic to boost product use.
